Install the iOS app
Download and update Public on iPhone and iPad from the App Store.
Install from the App Store
Public for iPhone and iPad uses the bundle ID in.publicapp.ios. It requires iOS 17 or later.
Search the App Store for Public. Confirm the listing shows bundle ID in.publicapp.ios before you install.
On your iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Public.
- Open the listing for Public (bundle ID
in.publicapp.ios). - Tap Get (or the cloud download icon), then Open.
Until the App Store listing is live, you can still use Public in Safari — see Install as a PWA.
Stay up to date
- Open the App Store, search for Public, and tap Update if shown.
- Turn on Settings → App Store → App Updates so iOS installs new versions automatically.
- If your build is below the minimum supported version, Public shows a full-screen Update required screen with Update now.

Permissions
Public only asks for permissions when it needs them:
- Notifications — asked at the end of first-run onboarding, or later in Settings.
- Camera, Photos, Microphone, and others — only when you use a feature that needs them.
