Language and RTL

Switch the app's language and fix issues with right-to-left layouts.

Public is translated into 21 languages. Two of them — Arabic and Persian (Farsi) — switch the layout to right-to-left (RTL).

Change the language

On the web

  1. Scroll to the footer of any page.
  2. Use the Language switcher.
  3. Pick a language. The page reloads in that language.

Your choice is saved in your browser. Different browsers (or different machines) keep their own language preference.

On Android

  1. Open Settings from the Menu tab.
  2. Open Language → App language.
  3. Pick the language you want.

You can also change the system-wide language in Android Settings → System → Languages & input, and Public will follow.

Supported languages

English, Hindi, Russian, Chinese (Simplified), Vietnamese, Turkish, Spanish, Arabic, French, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, German, Korean, Italian, Dutch, Persian (Farsi), Thai, Swahili, Malay, Polish.

Right-to-left (RTL)

When you pick Arabic or Persian (Farsi):

  • Text reads right-to-left.
  • Buttons, icons, and lists mirror their layout.
  • Navigation gestures (back, swipe) follow the RTL convention.

If part of the UI looks broken in RTL — for example, an icon points the wrong way — let support know with a screenshot via the Contact link.

Some text is still in English

Most of the app is fully translated, but a few marketing strings and policy pages can remain in English. We're tracking this. If a specific button or screen is missing a translation in your language, please report it via Contact.
