Deep links

public.kim links open Public directly when the Android app is installed.

When the Android app is installed, links to public.kim open inside the app instead of your browser. This means a tap on a profile or post link takes you straight to that screen.

What opens in the app

Tapping a link like one of these opens the matching screen in Public:

  • A post: https://public.kim/post/<id>
  • A profile: https://public.kim/u/<username> or https://public.kim/profile/<id>
  • A page: https://public.kim/page/<slug>
  • A hashtag: https://public.kim/hashtag/<tag>
  • A video (Watch): https://public.kim/watch/<id>
  • A chat / conversation: https://public.kim/conversation/<id>
  • A character chat: https://public.kim/characters/chat/<id>
  • A blog, challenge, invite center, gamification dashboard, and other in-app destinations.

If a link doesn't have a matching native screen, Public opens it inside an in-app browser (Chrome Custom Tab) so you don't lose your place.

Choose what handles public.kim

Android lets you control which app handles public.kim links.

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Public → Open by default.
  2. Confirm Public is set to Open supported links.

If links open in your browser instead of the app:

  • Make sure Public is up to date.
  • Make sure Open by default is enabled (above).
  • Tap Add link if you see only a partial set of links registered.

Tapping a push notification opens the same in-app destination as the matching link — for example, a new message push opens the relevant conversation.
