Delete account

Permanently delete your Public account and what gets removed.

Before you delete

Account deletion is permanent. Once it completes:

  • Your profile, posts, status updates, blogs, pages, AI characters, comments, and messages are removed.
  • Your followers and following lists are wiped.
  • Any active subscription tied to your account is cancelled.
  • Your invite code stops working; redemptions already credited are kept on the inviter's account.
  • Your Password vault — every saved credential, the wrapped vault key, and the KDF metadata — is removed. Because the vault is zero-knowledge, nobody (including Public) can restore it. Export anything you still need before you delete.

If you only want to take a break, sign out instead of deleting. See Password and security.

Delete on the web

  1. Open Settings (/settings).
  2. Open the Security section.
  3. Choose Delete account.
  4. Follow the confirmation prompts and confirm with your password.

Delete on Android

  1. Open the Menu tab → Settings.
  2. Open the Security section.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. On the Confirm Account Deletion screen, type DELETE to confirm.
  5. Tap Delete My Account.

After deletion

  • You'll be signed out everywhere.
  • The account cannot be recovered.
  • If you later sign up again with the same email, it's a brand new account — no posts or follows are restored.

Cancel a subscription without deleting

If you only want to cancel a paid plan but keep your account, see the Cancel option in your subscription. Cancellations and refunds follow the Refund Policy linked from the footer.
